The Delaware County Equalization Board met in Regular session on April 23, 2008 at 8:30 A.M. with the following members present: Jacqueline Wright-Chairman, Art Shackelford-Member.  Secretary–Carol Fortner and Don Youngblood-Member were absent.  Chairwoman-Jacqueline Wright called the Meeting to order and the following business was transacted.

 

Motion was made by Jacqueline Wright and seconded by Art Shackelford to approve of the Board of Equalization Agenda of April 23, 2008 as posted. All voted aye. Motion carried

 

A motion was made by Jacqueline Wright and seconded by Art Shackelford to review formal appeals on the following property:  

                Roy E. Nugen –This property has a home and a secondary mobile home with a garage on it.  Home was remodeled and bricked by owner and has 21 acres of agricultural land.  The 2008 Assessed value is $129,018.00 up from $93,783.00 in 2007.  Mr. Nugen stated that he lives on a fixed income and is a disabled vet and can’t afford the tax increase. He also stated that he did not agree with the assessed amounts for his property and that he didn’t think it was worth the amounts that the assessor’s had listed it as.  Assessor Leon Hurt stated that there was a cap placed at $98,472.00 and increases would take seven (7) years to be implemented in small increments each year.  Also discussed the option of a Senior Freeze for 2009 with Mr. Nugen.  Art Shackelford will visit the property.  Final Decision to be made on 4/30/08.  All voted aye. Motion carried.
