ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND TOURISM PROJECT PLAN

REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING

May 19, 2008

The Peninsula Resort & Club – Grand Lake Economic Development and Tourism Project Plan Review Committee met in a Special Session on May 19, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at the Delaware County Courthouse in the County Commissioners’ Meeting Room. The Agenda was posted April 30, 2008 at 1:45 P.M. on the East entrance door of the Delaware County Courthouse.  The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 A.M.

Members of the Review Committee introduced themselves as follows:  Delaware County Commissioner Ken Crowder, Chairman; Dr. Jim Rutter of Grove Public Schools, Member; Joe J. Hutchison of NE Tech Center, Member; Lendell Bass of Grove E.M.S., Member; Jane Ann Nichols of Delaware County Health Department, Member; and Dave Tayrien of NE District Library, Member. 

Commissioner Crowder called the Review Committee meeting to order.

Commissioner Crowder designated County Clerk Carol Fortner as secretary for the Review Committee. 

Commissioner Crowder opened discussion of the Grand Lake Economic Development and Tourism Project Plan.  Attorney Dan Batchelor with the Center for Economic Development Law presented an overview of the Oklahoma Local Development Act, the role of the Review Committee, and the proposed Project Plan.  Question and Answer session followed.

Commissioner Crowder passed out a list containing the recommendations for the seven (7) possible at-large members as follows: Leon Hurt, Delaware County Assessor; Larry Parham, Grove City Councilman; Tom Godkins, T.I.F. Experience; Mike Long, Monkey Island Developer; Don Owens, Monkey Island Resident; Tim Carson, Cleora Schools Superintendent; and Chet Vanatta, Monkey Island Resident.

Commissioner Crowder asked that the original Review Committee appoint three (3) additional members from the above list of seven (7) to the Review Committee.  Member Joe Hutchison made a motion to select Tim Carson of Cleora Schools.  Dr. Rutter seconded the motion.  All voted yes.  Motion carried.  Lendell Bass made a motion to select Leon Hurt, Delaware County Assessor.  Joe Hutchison seconded the motion.  All voted yes.  Motion carried.  Dave Tayrien made a motion to select Chet Vanatta, Monkey Island Resident.  No second, motion died on the floor.  Dr. Rutter made a motion to select Larry Parham, Grove City Councilman, as the third member.  Joe Hutchison seconded the motion.  All voted yes.  Motion carried.

Commissioner Crowder opened the floor for further questions and answers.

Commission Crowder announced the future meeting schedule.  The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at the Delaware County Courthouse in the County Commissioners’ Meeting Room.

Commissioner Crowder opened the floor for other business.  No other business was submitted.

Commissioner Crowder adjourned the meeting at 11:30 A.M.
